Turnover Into Strangle (Shime Wasa) - Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki

Shime Wasa in action

This turnover into a strangle (shime wasa) is a great variation on a standing version that I teach. Nice to see that others have learned from me (Humor intended: Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki does not need any help form me).

Anyway there is nothing worse than laying on the ground and knowing that you have a strangle ready and waiting to go if only you could figure out how to move into position. Well now you know.

As you can see from the video it is important that when you start the move don't stop; you have to keep the momentum going or the power of the strangle will be diminished.

The other thing to watch out for it to make sure that your Uke's Gi is around the neck before you start the action and not around the chin. The last thing you need is to have victory snatched from you by a penalty.

Otherwise the video speaks for itself. Oh and this is a video from Facebook so you may have to be logged in to see it. And While you are there make sure you
